The Company has a team of people who work for it who developed a range of expertise when they worked for the Rural Futures project between 2002 and 2006. The Company carries out some activities just for members e.g. the farm plastic recycling scheme, livestock transport tests and carcase collection scheme and some for the benefit of agriculture in general e.g. to encourage young people into farming, through the farm assistant scheme and some for funding agencies, for the benefit of all farmers e.g. organising technical on-farm demonstrations and workshops to inform and improve knowledge for Defra and Leader+. Further details of current and past work can be seen on the following pages.

The Company is always keen to hear from members and non-members about ideas for new activities that are needed to provide benefits to farmers in Cumbria and “someone” should do something about it. Please contact us if you have any good ideas that need support to make them happen

CFN Forthcoming Activities

We are working in partnership with Solway Recycling for 2008, with collections planned as previously in January/February 2008 and June. We are also helping members to organise more local mini-hubs, where and when they are wanted, provided at least 20 liners per collection. Further details at www.farmplastic.org.uk

We are testing the carcase collection service at present and are looking for more interested farmers, so we can help get new sites registered in time for lambing.
